My year as Rotary club president is nearing an end. On June 29, our club will celebrate the “Changing of the Guard,” an event that recognizes the achievements of the past year and christens the new president. For 2017-18 that president is Mark Kalmar. The event will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club. Those wanting to play golf should call for a tee time starting early enough for you to be completed by 5 p.m. Put together a foursome and enjoy. Our event begins at 5 p.m. with a social, 5:45 for BBQ dinner, and 7 p.m. for awards and recognition.
The Greater Corvallis Rotary Club has achieve much in 2017-18, including Governor’s Award and is on track for Presidential Citation. That means we accomplished great things, such as membership inductions, particularly with new members 40 and younger. We also met our Foundation goals of more than $30,000 in giving in the 100th year of the Rotary Foundation. We recognized the achievements of women in Rotary’s 30th year of women rotarians. We hosted two exchange student, Javiera and Miguel; sponsored the high school winner of the 4-Way Test Speech contest, and added a few new events of our own, including the Peace and Conflict presentation by Dean Rohrs on Apartheid and Rotary’s efforts.
Come celebrate this Thursday and share in the achievements of the 2017-18 year. Judy Corwin
